Here, a few of my favourites: Best Friend: Best for a trendy dinner with a groupīest Friend sits at the back of Park MGM’s casino. Where didn’t we eat? With so many different cuisines to choose from, and everyone from young, up-and-coming chefs to celebrity names vying for a spot on the Strip, Vegas is teaming with tasty food options. Do you prioritise space and size over design? (I have no words for some of the carpets spotted at The Cosmopolitan). When choosing your hotel, I’d recommend thinking about a couple of things: where do you want to be? Further up the Strip and you’re really in the mix, but this may seem overwhelming to some. The Cosmopolitan rates start from $195 per night. There was also more room around the beds, and I slept just as well here as I had the previous nights. For a group especially, the room was laid out expertly, with shower and toilet separate to the two sinks, to allow for simultaneous 'getting ready'. While large, confusing and more gregarious than the NoMad, the Cosmopolitan did offer one benefit: space. Instantly I saw the benefits of both hotels depending on the traveller. A step-change from the mood-lit reception areas and corridors of the NoMad, the Cosmopolitan felt chaotic at first, until we eventually were led to our room – another double Queen – which gave views of the Strip courtesy of dramatic floor to ceiling windows. Shiny and colourful, the Cosmopolitan stands central to all of the action, a stroll along from the famous Bellagio fountains, and within close view of the (yes, fake) Eiffel Tower. The NoMadīy contrast, our second hotel for the weekend felt huge. Our base, therefore was considered carefully, bang in the middle of all the action. We were there for the lights, for the fountains, for the dancing, the drinks and all of the fun. We wanted to try frozen cocktails in a $20 plastic cup you could hang from your neck. We wanted to experience the late-night casinos, bustling with tourists trying their hand at Craps and Blackjack. The beating heart of one of the most famous places in the world. And while there are parts that aren’t written on the label, hidden in the downtown streets of the city ( we have a guide for that, too, if you're interested), this trip, was all about the Strip. Here’s the thing about Vegas, it does what it says on the tin. Here's my guide to some of the best things to do during a short break on the Strip. I imagine it almost like a travel affair – a break from my usual culture or nature-filled trips. Vegas, was just somewhere that one day I decided – drunk, I’ll admit – that I wanted to experience, preferably surrounded by some of my best girlfriends, for just once in my life. You see, Vegas for me wasn’t the place I ran to after a crisis, it wasn’t the stage for the greatest hen do of all time, neither was it a place I wanted to go to forget all my troubles. Yet here I was, aged 31, gazing out of the window of my car up at the startling lights of the towering Strip, still married and fairly sure without any kind of impending existential issues on the horizon. The epitome of indulgence, the city of sin – a place I never thought I’d find myself in, excepting some kind of midlife crisis or relationship breakup.
